Courtney's Nail Journey
Courtney's nail journey started in 2010 when her husband was stationed in Germany and with the language barrier decided to try doing her nails herself rather than going to a salon. That was when, in her own words, she knew ‘she was meant to be a Nail Technician’.
Essential Nails came up when Courtney started researching nail technician training. The idea of working from home and sending it in to be marked appealed to her and suited her lifestyle. Starting with an Acrylic course, and gaining a Distinction, she went on to complete another 4 courses with us. With Gel Extensions, Manicure, and Gel Polish under her belt, she started working from her spare room and was fully booked very quickly.
After a break due to having her son and being back in England, Courtney found herself once again fully booked, gaining a fantastic reputation for her Nail Art, working mobile this time. Sinking herself into the wonderful world of nails, she made friends in the online community and started a YouTube channel after discovering a passion for teaching.
Finding herself back in Germany in a very small community, Courtney transferred her talents to creating custom press-on nails and building her YouTube channel up, working with some big brands in the process. At this time, she also gained her AET teaching qualification and is looking forward to starting her journey as an Educator.
With her husband once again re-stationed in England this time, Courtney connected with a salon owner and started working in ‘Tantastic,’ finding herself so busy she had to shut down her Press on Nails business to concentrate on clients.
Being awarded ‘Creative Nail Tech of the Year’ in 2020 is one of the highlights of her career, making her one of the top ten nail artists in the country. She also found the time to create her own website offering advice to professional nail techs and home users.
After a 2-year move to a small military salon, she is once again in a larger town based in a busy salon and loving life with her happy clients.
In 9 years native Canadian Courtney lived in 3 countries and had 7 house moves and still managed to build an incredible career from scratch, now that is what we call an amazing success story!
