From Glittery Nights to her Own Salon: How Essential Nails Graduate Erin Built her Dream Business Around Motherhood
Erin Esty, a nail technician based in the UK, has an inspirational story of following her passion and building her business around being a busy mum of three boys.
After having her second son, Erin discovered a love for nail art and spent late nights perfecting designs while her newborn slept. 'I'd be sat at my desk covered in glitter and in my element'. With encouragement from her partner, she decided to turn her hobby into a career and qualified with Essential Nails in August 2016, gaining distinctions in further courses.
Erin named her new business 'Glamour Sprinkles Nails' and started out mobile, juggling client appointments around her family commitments, bringing her services direct to clients in the Tunbridge Wells area. As her confidence grew, so did her reputation, gaining regulars through word of mouth and social media.
When baby number three came along, Erin adapted by seeing clients from a salon setup in a corner of her kitchen/diner. Just 4 months after giving birth, she was back doing what she loved. In early 2019, Erin was still mobile but dreamed of her own dedicated space. She and her partner decided to build a custom nail studio cabin in their garden, which opened in September 2020, finally giving Erin her own glittery domain.
As an ambassador, Erin offers The Cuticle Lab pens in her salon and promotes them to her clients. This partnership aligns her with an established brand while providing high-quality items her clients love.
Lockdown proved a challenge, causing Erin to lose some clients, but with grit and determination she rebuilt her business again. Erin now splits her time between her home studio and her second location at The Beauty Box salon. Supported by a full appointment book of loyal clients, Erin continues living her dream as an award-winning technician.
Erin’s passion and perseverance paid off in a big way this year when she was named NBL Nail Technician of the Year South East and also Overall Winner - a huge accomplishment.
